Finding Our Venue

White Studio
After days of research on the internet and in newspapers, Josh and I have found a Photography business based in North Watford. We came across the advertisement on www.vivastreet.co.uk, where the description is offering a private white studio for £20 per hour including lighting, smoke machine, backdrops and various other pieces of equipment upon request. We contacted the owner and have established a renting date for Sunday 8th November 2009. Below is a picture of our venue from vivastreet.co.uk:

Today, Josh and I visited the studio and captured some images ourselves:

In accordance with our risk assessment, we will be closely supervised by the owner to ensure we use all the equipment safely and correctly.

Treetop Forest
After Josh & I reviewed the list of 'white studio shots' we felt something was missing. We realised the video will become somewhat repetitive with just the studio performance shots, and we need to introduce a strong narrative. Moreover, we backtracked to research on YouTube and music channels to study how artists of today show strong narrative in their videos. Being that our video is set out to be eerie and subliminal, we discovered a forest location is ideal for a sideline narrative. The animated image below shows snapshots of 'Run' by Leona Lewis; the main narrative influence to our coursework (foggy atmosphere, black & white saturation, angular shapes of branches, silhouette effect using contrast of dark and bright lighting):

Therefore as our second location, we will be using Treetop Forest which is based in Radlett next to my house. We will be filming mainly narrative shots in this location and will have adult supervision to ensure our safety being that we will be shooting at night...in a dark forest. Due to logistical issues with equipment, we will be filming two days later on Tuesday 10th November. In terms of power supply, we will be able to use an extension lead from my house into the forest. Below are pictures of the established spots where we have decided to film:
