Over the past few days we distributed our finalised questionnaires to our audience (17-18 year olds) within JFS.
Below are the graphed results from our questionnaire. Our most important findings are enlarged beneath:
Most Preferred Theme:
This shows that overall the majority (52%) of our audience prefer the theme of dance in a music video. However, this has made us realize there is still the other 48% of our audience to please and therefore will have to take into consideration their preference of theme as well as concentrating on the dance within our project.
Preferred Gender of Performers:
From these results, we can see that the majority (65%) of our audience prefer female performers. Seeing as 40% of the participants in our survey were male this ties in with the 'Male Gaze' and their satisfaction. Interestingly however, 60% of the participants in our survey were female and yet overall 65% preferred female performers. This finding tells us how women also in this day-in-age gain satisfaction ('Female Gaze') from watching other women perform. This is a development from Laura Mulvey's initial description of scopophilia in 'Visual Pleasures and Narrative Cinema' Screen Vol.16. No. 3 (1975).
Preferred Genre of Music:

This graph shows 'Alternative/Indie' is the most popular genre of music amongst our audience. 'Pop' is also seen to be a relatively popular style as well as 'Electronic'. This finding supports the track we intend to use (Aha!), so we can confidently create our project knowing our audience will appreciate our choice of music.
